A. If you are having a colonoscopy or a upper endoscopy, yes, you will be
sedated. This is not general anesthesia but most people remember nothing
about the procedure. Our goal is to keep this from being a painful experience.
Cystoscopy and sigmoidoscopy procedures usually do not require sedation.![]()
A. A registered nurse who has been trained in “Moderate Sedation” and who
maintains annual competencies will administer the sedation under the
direct supervision of
your physician.![]()
A. While there are always risks associated with IV sedation, we take
special care to ensure your safety. You will be placed on a monitor that
lets us watch your heart
rate, blood pressure and your oxygen level. Your vital signs are
continuously monitored by our well trained nursing staff.

A. Yes, because of the sedation you will not be allowed to drive away from
the facility. It is recommended you do not drive for 24 hours.
