"East Mississippi Endoscopic Center has been developed to and will strive to
provide high quality, cost effective ambulatory endoscopic health care to the
citizens of east central Mississippi and west central Alabama. We exist to serve
the patient in a safe, efficient and compassionate manner emphasizing a wellness
perspective."
EMEC, LLC was incorporated in 1996 by four gastroenterologists and two
urologists for the purpose of providing Endoscopic health care to the city of
Meridian and its surrounding communities without limitation because of race,
creed, sex, or national origin.
The founding members wanted to provide their patients with a more private
setting than the traditional hospital units as well as to provide these services
in a more cost effective and friendly environment.
After researching the indication, construction began on a 4000 square foot
building located at 1926 23rd Avenue. The building was complete as of May 22,
1998 and service began on May 23, 1998. The original building housed 5
prep/recovery rooms and two procedure rooms.
Patient census has grown from approximately 1400 patients in the 1st full year
of service to over 3600 patients in 2007. Census growth is attributed mainly to
the reputation the facility has gained in the community for having a courteous
and caring staff of business office personnel, nurses and physicians as well as
to the high quality and safe care provided. Patient satisfaction surveys daily
congratulate and remind our staff of how important this is and how thankful our
patients are for the excellent care they receive.
As a result, an expansion to the building was completed in December 2004 adding
approximately 2000 square feet of space which includes 10 more prep/recovery
beds and an additional procedure room.
